February 2000 MTCV Itinerary

Sunday 6th Cockatoo (short ride) Theo Kalkandis leading 10.15 am Hallam

In an effort to attract more members to Sunday rides, the Committee is trying something different for this itinerary: short rides. About half the rides will be short. This is the first one. Theo has been out pre-riding the route for this Cockatoo Ride everyday after work since Christmas, so be prepared for plenty of corners on excellent roads. Expect around 220 km for the day with one or two stops.

Sunday 13th Lake Mountain (short ride) Tim Walker leading 10.30 am Yarra Glen

From Yarra Glen we will head across to Healesville and Warburton for morning tea. Then ride across the Reefton Spur and up Lake Mountain for a regroup. Back to Marysville Bakery for lunch and break-up. Tim and his ZX7 love this sort of tight, twisty uphill work. Expect around 200 km home to home, with a grin on your face!

Fri. 18th Night Ride, Dandenongs Theo Kalkandis leading 7.30 pm Hallam, 11 pm Caffe Sienna, 402 Chapel St, South Yarra

The trick here is to go on Theo’s Cockatoo Ride and learn the roads because it will be much the same route, except we’ll end up at the Sienna, where friends and acquaintances can meet us. The first hour or so of the ride will be in the light. Don’t forget to eat before arriving, maybe across the road at the Hallam Pub. Expect around 250 km and a late night.

Sunday 20th Kevington Pub Lunch Rob Matricciani leading 9.00 am KBCP, 10.00 am Yarra Glen

Note earlier starting times than previously advertised. Route will include no dirt, so expect Black Spur and some highway in the morning, and then good roads down through Howqua and Jamieson to lunch at Kevington Pub. Home via Alexandra, Molesworth and Yea. Long ride, early start, expect around 450 km for the day. Note: if weather is favourable, location has good swimming hole, so bring bathers and towel. See flier.

Sunday 27th Cape Patterson Jack Youdan leading

9.30 am KBCP, 10.15 am Hallam

Note new leader from last month’s provisional listing in magazine. Jack, first reserve leader, will lead us into the deep South – Gippsland that is. Great road between Wonthaggi and Inverloch – spectacular scenery. I imagine we’ll travel through Loch at some stage. Expect around 450 km of varied and interesting roads for the day.

Thursday 2nd General Meeting, 8.15 pm Club Hall

March

Guest Speaker Edwin Gatt who will discuss ‘Licence Restoration Program’ and how it relates to drivers and motorcyclists. The testing for, and effects of drugs, both illicit and prescription, will be examined. Should be most interesting. Be there.
