June 2000 MTCV Itinerary

Sunday 4th Lancefield (short ride) Wayne Grant leading

9.30 am KBCP, Whittlesea

Always cold and windy at Lancefield so rug up and join Wayne for what promises to be a short, leisurely, but interesting ride. Expect around 200 km for the day.

Sat. 10th Sandown Ride Day – see flier elsewhere. Still some places left.

Thurs. 15th Social Sip, 7 pm Blackburn Hotel, 111 Whitehorse Road Blackburn

Get there early as it closes early! Good food, good company, 15 to 20 people.

Sunday 18th Reefton and Black Spurs (short ride) Ray Walker leading

10.30 am Whittlesea

No Snow Ride on this itinerary but this could be it in disguise. Ray’s first lead and he has the new motor in the GSXR, making a claimed 106 ps at the rear wheel. The Reefton is all made now, so the days of wet slush are gone. Plenty of corners. Should be interesting if they decide to close either Spur due to snow or other adverse weather conditions. Expect around 180 km for the day. Good gloves are essential as the chance of snow is high.

Sunday 25th Team Navigation Trial, Brisbane Ranges Les Leahy leading

10 am West Gate Shell Service Station

Two groups heading in opposite directions on interesting roads. Similar to an ordinary Sunday ride but this time we’ll have to follow a set of directions – that is the leader from each group, in conjunction with his fellow team members will have to plan the best route to complete the trial. Should be interesting and different. And there will be a prize! Expect around 350 km for the day, and it won’t be in the least arduous. Les always puts a lot of preparation and thought into these adventures, so please come and enjoy his hard work.

July

Sunday 2nd Eildon, Old Dam Wall Paul Tallents leading

9.30 am KBCP, 10.30 am Yarra Glen

If the rain holds off we might just catch a glimpse of the Old Dam Wall at Eildon – you can currently walk across it. And around near Fraser National Park access can be reached to the Coller Bay Homestead that is now 5 or 6 metres above the water line. On other occasions the water has been 20 metres above the homestead. It is quite an eerie sight – the structure is relatively preserved, with garden paths, walls and roof still clearly discernible. Expect about 350 km of excellent roads for the day. Bring your camera.

Thurs. 6th General Meeting, 8.15 pm Club Hall

Here the wash-up from Sandown, pay your dues, win a door prize, meet your riding buddies in a social context, catch up with the latest gossip. It all happens at your Club meeting. Make the effort – it is worth it. It could even be fun!
