March 2000 MTCV Itinerary

Sunday 5th Romsey (short ride), 10.30 am Whittlesea Ian Payne leading

Wayne Grant was down to lead this but is away in Sydney on work related training. Ian has stepped into the breach . Mt Macedon and the Cross is a likely port of call, Woodend Bakery a possibility for morning tea or lunch. Expect around 250 km home to home.

Sunday 12th Kongwak (Gippsland) Ben Warden leading 9.30 am KBCP, 10.15 am Hallam

Formerly the Apostles View weekend away, this is now just a cruise around the back blocks of Gippsland. No surprise dirt, only good roads, and the ride will flow. We will head south from Drouin down the Loch Road to Korumburra and beyond, working our way around and back up the sweeping Warragul Road, with possibly a small diversion around Dumbalk way. To get the most enjoyment from the ride, bite the bullet and put some good tyres on. Expect around 500 km for the day. It will be grouse.

Thursday 16th Social Sip, 7 pm Blackburn Hotel, 111 Whitehorse Road Blackburn

At last our new social sip venue. Good food, plenty of noise and activity, late night opening, lots of visual stimulation. Expect everyone east of the city to be there. Should be huge.

Saturday 18th World Open Motocross, Broadford, 9.30 am Whittlesea

A rare world class event in our own back yard. Come and see how the experts ride. Their skill level is amazing. Note early pick-up. Less than 100 km for the day.

Sunday 19th Warragul via Noojee (short ride), 10.30 am Yarra Glen Dianne Welsford leading

Route will include Healesville, Powelltown, and Noojee and Warragul. Then back again. Great variety of roads and spectacular scenery, if you care to look. Expect around 240 km for the day.

Sunday 26th Eildon via Torbreck River Tim Walker leading

9.30 am KBCP, 10.30 am Yarra Glen.

Standard Tim fare: corners, corners, corners. Route will probably include Black Spur, Flowerdale Rd, Molesworth Road, either coming or going. Torbreck River Road is 37 km of uninterrupted corners, one way. Then you hit the dirt and have to come back again! A bit like the Reefton Spur, but with less cars and bikes. Top road. Eildon or Alexandra for lunch I imagine. Expect around 420 km for the day.

April

Sunday 2nd Gippsland – Mirboo North area Ben Warden leading

9.30 am KBCP, 10.15 am Hallam

The quest for the perfect sweeper continues. There are six roads leading into Mirboo North. Its tricky trying to go on all of them, but I will try because they are all excellent. Regular stops, easy day.

Thursday 2nd General Meeting, 8.15 pm Club Hall

No guest speaker scheduled but I expect there will be one.
