Did everyone remember to put the clock back 1 hour before they went to bed?. I think so, because no one turned up early at Yarra Glen this morning. Even early this morning it was quite apparent that it was going to be a nice day. I didn’t even bother taking my wet weather gear with me. Greg got everybody’s attention and gave us a run down on our days ride. Then he lead the Club down Melba Highway to the Healesville turn off. Couple of back streets to Myers Creek Road - Toolangi - Melba Highway turn right to Glenburn, then left turn at the pub through to Break O Day, right turn and carry onto Yea.

Martin Quinn on his R6 turned up at Yea (missed theYarra Glen departure time). Yea was our first stop for morning tea and fuel. From Yea we went back to Break O Day to Flowerdale. It was on a section of this road I was following Peter on his GSXR 1000 hard on his heels. He could pull away but I still stuck with him and actually passed him almost on a left hander, but we were going a bit quick for the right hander and I pulled back for my own sake. What a bike!!! Strath Creek to Broadford section my RH mirror came undone and I had to stop and fix it. Bit hard to see out of it with it pointing to the ground. Rob Langer joined the ride here. Going over the bridge that crosses the Hume into Broadford I left the bike seat and pegs because there is a big bump in the road. I am sure everybody had the same problem.

From Broadford we followed some back roads which I haven’t been on before, or if I have I don’t remember. Wandong to Wallan East and on to Whittlesea. Not a bad road through either. We stopped at Whittlesea for food and fuel. It was a much needed stop. Les Leahy left and Geoff Jones took over rear rider. I was talking to Peter about the stint through the Yea to Flowerdale section and he said he was surprised at how well the Bandit went and that I was staying with him.

Depart Whittlesea to Kinglake. Another good section of road. Martin on the R6 left the ride here and the rest of us carried on to St Andrews and past the pub. There were lots of bikes there and I was trying to see if any of our lot were there but they weren’t. Lots of people waving arms in the air so I give it a handful in 2nd gear and roared off up the road at full noise only to be stopped by a Policeman around the corner who I assumed had just booked somebody else on a bike. I pulled over and he explained that it was still a 60 k zone until I passed 80 k, I told the officer that I was looking for some of our riders who I thought might be at the pub but they were not there. I asked him if he had seen any other bikes go past, to which he said there were half a dozen went past and there were a couple Fireblades. I said, sounds like the group I am with. He said watch the speed and have a nice day, so I started the bike and rode off like a good boy. Any way the others had stopped at Panton Hill where the ride finished, every body arrived there except Lee who stopped at the pub at St Andrews.

There were no incidents and the weather could not have been better Thanks to Greg for leading the ride. I know what its like when you lead your Ist ride.
