Road Conditions Reporting Line: (03) 9854-2899 where motorcyclists can report road conditions and give suggestions for improvement on any road in Victoria. Vicroads now has an email address for the same purpose: [email protected]

For Sale: Dunlop 205 160/60/17 rear tyre, 90%, $100. Contact Dave Ward on 9563-7705 or mobile 0413-624-598 for more info. This money will be put to good use: Dave has his Ducati 996 in for its 10,000 km service/rebuild. Faulty hardening on the rocker arms has resulted in four failed rockers which took out the cams – v-twin, 4 cams I presume. A cool $3000 of damage, most of which is covered under warranty.. Dave is now without a road bike, resorting to dirt riding!

The Club has a new post office box number. Our new postal address is PO Box 4132, Melbourne University PARKVILLE VIC 3052. Our old one will still work for another 6 months or so.

Martin Quinn sent me the following email “I recently met a guy who manufactures motorcycle race stands. They are currently being sold to the dealers and are good quality. I bought a set myself! The going price is $200 per set (front and rear) or $110 each. I found this was about 40% cheaper than the dealers were selling them for. If anyone is interested they could contact me on email address: [email protected] or at home on 97756368 after 7:30 pm.

Ben and Julie have moved to their new house at 2 Ethel St Oak Park. The new home phone number is 9300-2789. Visitors welcome.

Seen at the November Social Sip: Ian Payne, Bruce Saville, Rob Langer, Kirsten Anderson, George Moretti, Dianne Welsford, Ben Warden, Tim Walker, Martin Quinn, Ron and Julie Johnston, John Francey, Liz Oliver, Peter Weyermayr, Jon Riddett, Davorin Zivkovic, Derek Anderson, Danny Kosinski and Monika, and Michael Barnes. A good turnout with 20 members and friends meeting at our new venue “The Whitehorse Inn”. We have been so impressed with this place that we have booked it for the next 6 months. Our host, Anna, is very pleasant and goes out of her way to make us feel welcome.

Peter Weyermayr, of GSXR750M fame, has bought a new 2001 Fireblade. Riding Ray’s ill handling GSXR600 was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It was just so easy: the 600 had more power, better brakes, handled better, and steered!

Ray Walker has traded in his GSXR600 for a GSXR1000!  The 600 was less than one year old but had accumulated over 40,000 km, needed suspension work, a service, rego and insurance. And they made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

It’s official. The Club name change has been acknowledged by Consumer and Business Affairs. As of the 19th of October 2001 our Club is now called “Motorcycle Sports Touring Club of Victoria, Inc”. We have two copies of the document which have been laminated. See Ben for a look.
