One hundred and ten easy kilometers to Pyalong for morning tea via Kinglake, Strath Creek and Broadford. Then down to Lancefield and up towards Mia Mia but getting off the main drag and meandering our way around the back blocks reaching Heritage Trust Maldon for lunch around 1 pm. Head for the bakery for a gourmet pie, check out the Sunday tourists and the gold-rush architecture of the local shops. Back to the big smoke via Daylesford, Trentham, and Blackwood to disband at Melton. All good roads, wet or dry. Around about 400 flowing kilometers for the day.

10.15 am Yarra Glen, 1 pm La Porchetta, 558 Doncaster Rd, Doncaster

A short ride around the eastern hills finishing up at La Porchetta's pasta bar for lunch. Meet the missus with the kids, or go directly there if you sleep in. The ride could suit a pillion though it will be cold. Expect around 150 km for the morning. Bring a friend.

Sunday 22nd Steiglitz (Brisbane Ranges) Geoff Jones leading

10.15 am Whittlesea

We will head north to Flowerdale and make our way west to Pyalong for morning tea. Then down to Lancefield, around the back of Mt Macedon and down to Bacchus Marsh via Gisborne. Then the old Western Highway through Myrniong to Greendale and Ballan before heading south to Meridith for lunch. After lunch we'll enjoy the Brisbane Ranges picking up Steiglitz, Anakie and the sensational Durdidwarrah Road. Breakup at Werribee via Exford. Expect over 400 km for the day.

Sun. 29th Reefton Snow Ride (short ride) Greg Hales leading

10.15 am Yarra Glen

Greg hopes to have recovered from his broken collar bone in time to lead this ride. This year, unlike previous times, we will not even attempt to ride to the summit of Lake Mountain or Mt Donna Buang. They have priced themselves out of the market. But we will do the Reefton Spur, and there may be snow up around the Lake Mountain turnoff. It will be cold so come prepared. All sealed roads. Come and support Greg on his first ride as leader. Expect around 250 km for the day.

August

Thursday 5th Social Sip, 7 pm Elgin Inn Hotel, 75 Burwood Road Hawthorn

Collect your magazine and new itineraries. Normally about 20 or so people, all with a common interest. Plenty of stories. Parking easy to find. Catch up on the gossip. Be there.

Sunday 5th Nagambie Ian Payne leading

10.15 am Whittlesea

Across to Wallan and up the Old Hume Highway through Wandong to Broadford. Then working our way north through interesting roads to Seymour and the wine country around Mitchellstown to reach Nagambie for morning tea. The roads east of Nagambie are dead straight and we'll be heading to Euroa and down into the picturesque Strathbogie Ranges, a once oft visited Club destination. From here we'll either head south to Merton and Yea, or, depending on time and riders, back through Ruffy and across to Seymour for the final fling to Kinglake West via Kerrisdale and Strath Creek. Grouse, rarely travelled roads either way. Expect around 400 km for the day.
