I really enjoy these rides now as I know pretty much exactly where I am going and don’t even need to pre ride the event beforehand. Nevertheless I never would have thought a short ride for lunch would have attracted the number and types of riders that were arriving as we all stood at the Whittlesea pickup. Bike after bike, and all sportsbikes including a Ducati 996. I thought at one stage people had misread the ride for the day. The weather was terrific and several riders said they had not been out for some time so today was a day to enjoy.

The route was fairly predictable with great flowing roads from Whittlesea to King Lake West following on to Flowerdale and Yea. We would be heading back to Flowerdale so rather than back track on other riders I decide to stop for a brief morning tea, which was just as well as the ride was spread a long way back!

The journey back to Flowerdale and onto Strath Creek was uneventful, although we were covering ground quickly. The lunch was booked for 1.00 and for only 10 people so I thought it unreasonable to turn up an hour early with 20 riders. And that was the way things were looking as we left Strath Creek and headed for Trawool.

To fill the extra hour it seemed like a good idea to head to Pyalong for a quick regroup and to enjoy the winding roads. The return trip to Trawool ensured we all arrived at just on 1.00 pm. Perfect. As usual the food and service was very good and we were all looking forward to the blast back to Whittlesea. On the return trip Ray, in traditional fashion of keeping the throttle pinned open, ran out of fuel prior to Strath Creek. The rear rider and Craig Morley came to the rescue.

Just out of Whittlesea the Club stumbled across another group of riders cruising and creating a mobile roadblock. All enjoyed passing of this group, particularly Craig who went to enormous lengths, and widths (as he was on the other side of the road) to get by.

To sum up, a great day with no incidents and plenty of sun.
