March 2002 MSTCV Itinerary

Sunday 10th     Powers Lookout, Whitfield                                                                Ron Johnston leading

                        10.15 am Yarra Glen

Join Ron on his Bandit for a long ride. The Mansfield, Tolmie, Whitfield Road is now all sealed and a great piece of road. Ride may not suit inexperienced riders due to the distance and speeds. You will need a decent rear tyre as we expect around 500 hard km for the day.

Saturday 16th  Progressive Dinner – see elsewhere in magazine for details

Sunday 17th     Pyalong, 10.15 am Whittlesea                                                               Ben Warden leading

Wayne Grant was listed to lead this ride but is still recuperating from his crash. The route will head east to St Andrews, Glenburn and Yea for morning tea, then around to Strath Creek, Tallarook and Pyalong for lunch. Back to Kinglake West via Lancefield and Broadford. Expect around 300 km of good roads.

Sunday 24th     Phillip Island Superbikes

Sunday 24th     Kinglake (short ride)   10.15 am Whittlesea                                            Ray Walker leading

Come for a ride around the hills and then head for a 1 pm BBQ lunch at Ray and Katrina’s home, 56 Melba Ave Sunbury. Watch the Superbikes and support races on TV. The Club will subsidise lunch but bring your own drink. Please let Ray know of your intentions for catering purposes. Ph: 0417-109-027

Friday 29th      Snake Valley (Ballarat Area)                                                                  Geoff Jones leading

10.15 am West Gate Shell Servo

Easter comes early this year and the Club has decided to have two day-rides rather than one poorly attended weekend ride. So, follow Geoff as he leads us west to Ballarat and beyond to SnakeValley. Beware of the changeable weather and carry wet weather clothing. One time we all nearly froze to death when the weather changed from a hot 25 deg to a freezing hail storm and torrential rain. Expect 400 km.

Sunday 31st     Inverloch        (10.15 am Yarra Glen)                                       Ben Warden leading

The starting point almost dictates the route and so it is via Powelltown and Drouin (morning tea, 110 km) that we make our way south to Inverloch for lunch. Spectacular views of the sea as we head along the Loch road; fast, unforgiving sweepers around the rugged coastline from Wonthaggi, and then northwards to Mirboo and Trafalgar along roads seemingly designed to suit large capacity sport bikes. Home via the highway or back to Launching Place. Big ride, big kilometers, not for the faint-hearted. And you have all Monday to recover! Get motivated. Winter is coming. Expect around 500 fun packed km for the day.
