Dave Ward reported that 17 or so bikes were pinged for over noisy exhaust systems in Chapel St Prahran on Friday night (22nd) and most received ‘canaries’. The bikes could not be ridden home. There appears to be another blitz!

Renzo Cunico has traded in his YZF1000 and bought a 2002 model R1, slightly second hand – about 214 km old. The story goes that the previous owner arrived home one night with the new bike and quietly parked it in the garage. When the missus discovered it the next day she promptly hit the roof, the bike hit the deck (see scratches) and he was given an ultimatum: “It goes or I do.”  The bike came with a pipe. We believe Mrs Cunico is much more tolerant. Go Renzo!

Eric Makin, part of the John and Eric Spur Specialist Team, débuted his new VTR1000SP on the Tim’s Marysville Ride. With new leathers and bike I didn’t recognise him. Thinking he was a new guy and seeming to be getting along at a fair clip I was content to follow him up Chum Creek Road and down Myers Creek Road. Bike sounds and looks great. Great bottom end power. Hope we see more of it.

Seen at the February General Meeting: Ben Warden, Ian Payne, Rob Langer, Tim Walker, Liz Oliver, Ken Wright and Louise, Les Leahy, Darren and Teagan Hosking, Ray Walker, Ron Johnston, Rhys Williams, Trevor Harris, Pete Weyermayr, Jon Riddett and Daniel Kosinski. It was a cold and wet night though the turnout was smaller than expected.

Dave Nimmo Xmas crash: GSXR1000 should be on the road by the end of this week, say Fri 8th March.

Trevor Harris (YZF1000 crash on Melb Cup weekend) was seen out riding his old faithful FJ1200 on the Gembrook ride, getting ready for a Phillip Island ride day! Welcome back Trev.

Phillip Island will be hosting Round 2 of the World Superbikes on March 22-24, 2002. This will be a good opportunity to see Troy Bayliss (Superbike) and Andrew Pitt (Supersport) defend their world championships. The Club is having a BBQ on the Sunday at Ray Walker’s.
