Dave Ward, Dave Moore, Tony Schrader, Clint Vertigan and Darryn Webster recently flew up to Weipa in the Gulf of Carpentaria to do an organised dirt bike ride up to Cape York and back. From all accounts everyone had a good time. They all fell off, but fortunately “no injuries”. They were the youngest group to do the tour and consequently covered the most kilometers, but also drank the least alcohol! According to Dave one memorable event was when they met another group of bikes. They contained the usual GS BM’s but also an early model GSX1100 Suzuki fitted with lowered gearing and knobbies.

Australia’s World Super Sport Champion, Andrew Pitt, has just set a new speed record when he towed a German “in-line skater” to a speed of 291.8 kmh! The record was set on a German autobahn with Pitt riding a Kawasaki ZX-12R, but that’s not the fastest the skater has been; he has been towed behind a Turbo Porsche at 307.4 kmh!!

Dave Ward has traded his F650 (Funduro) for a full size R1150GS BMW.
