August 2003                MSTCV Itinerary

Sunday 10th     Ballan Hill Climb                                                                                    Geoff Jones leading

10.15 am West Gate Shell Servo

Geoff assures me he has new timing gear this year and Greg Hales has his new Fireblade which should be interesting after his TL. Last year it was an all V-twin affair. Dave may even dust off his 996 and do battle with Craig and maybe Rob Jones on the 954, or maybe Daniel K. and Ray will throw their hats into the ring on their GSXRs. Or will Dean dust off his VTR? Whatever happens, be there. No doubt Val Jones will feed us magnificently, as per usual. Melissa, Andrew McKenna and maybe Ben Jones will be the timing marshals. The winner gets their name inscribed on the trophy. Short 100 km ride afterwards.

Sunday 17th     Chewton Café Lunch                                                                             Rob Langer leading

                        10.15 am Whittlesea

Chewton is near Castlemaine. Join Rob on his BMW R1150 GS (or maybe his new KTM 950 LC8!) for some pleasant touring out west. Morning tea will be at Broadford (if you are running late) via Flowerdale and Strath Creek. Then on to Kyneton and Chewton for lunch. Then back to Whittlesea via Daylesford, Woodend, Romsey and Wallan for break-up. Expect a leisurely 400 km for the day. All good roads.

Sunday 24th     Toorongo Falls                                                                              Pete Weyermayr leading

                        10.15 am Yarra Glen

Pete will lead us across to Healesville and down to Noojee via Powelltown for our first break. Then off to visit the water falls, a short way along the Mt Baw Baw road. Afterwards we’ll head south through Hill End and Tanjil South towards Trafalgar before working our way back to Warragul for fuel. Then back to Yarra Junction via Noojee for final farewells. Expect around 320 km for the day. It could be really cold!

Sunday 31st     Alexandra                                                                                               Greg Hales leading                        10.15 am Yarra Glen

From Yarra Glen we’ll head across to Healesville and up Chum Creek road to Toolangi. Throw in a touch of the Melba Highway to Glenburn and then across country to Flowerdale, Strath Creek and Broadford for morning tea. After a leisurely break we’ll head north to Seymour and up the Highlands Road (watch the gravely bitumen at the end), then down to Yea,  around to Molesworth and across to Alexandra for late lunch. After lunch we’ll head up the Fraser National Park twisties, along  Skyline Road with spectacular views of Lake Eildon, then down in to Eildon proper and around to Taggerty. Marysville and the Black Spur will see us finish in Healesville. Lots of twisty roads. Ride may not suit inexperienced riders but certainly picks the eyes out of the best roads around Melbourne. Expect around 350 km.

September 2003

Thurs. 4th        General Meeting, Club Hall

Inglesby Road, Camberwell, Melways Reference 59J2

One of only three formal meetings a year followed by supper and door prizes. Very social. Be there.

Sunday 7th       Pyalong                                                                                                      Liz Oliver leading                        10.15 am Yarra Glen

Join Liz on her black Fireblade for this leisurely jaunt through the local hills. First stop Pyalong after skooting through Kinglake, Strath Creek and Trawool. After Pyalong we’ll head west working our across to Woodend and Daylesford for lunch. Then home via Trentham, Greendale, Blackwood and Myrniong. We may break up at Melton or push on to Diggers Rest. Expect around 290 easy kays for the day.
