September 2003 General Meeting Minutes

Open Meeting:                                 8.30pm

Present:                                  23 members and friends

 

Visitors:                                  Ian welcomed visitors: - Roger Holt and Derrick Thomlinson.       Coincidently both Roger and Derrick were past members of the Club. Roger from the 1960’s and Derrick from the 1980’s.

Secretary Report:                       Contents of PO Box sorted and relevant items read by Ben            : -

Flyers for; Superbike School, Broadford Southern Classic, Bikes by the Bay, HangMore Motorcycle Club and a Bank Statement. Ben also had a CD from Martin Hastie on the clubs trip to Tasmania back in March.

 

Treasurer’s Report:                       As at end of August there was $2,676 in the bank.

 

Captain’s Report:                       Past and forthcoming rides previewed by Peter Weyermayr.

 

Meeting Minutes:                     Minutes of the May 2003 Club Meeting read.

 

Business Arising:                       Nil

 

General Business:            Membership currently stands at 54! This is an excellent achievement for so early in the Club year. A new password has now been applied to our website to ensure only current members have access.

 

The new October to January itinerary is now available. Some highlights being a Ride Day at Phillip Island in November, which will be run by Superbike School.

Walwa Resort over Melb. Cup weekend, Christmas Camp at Porepunkah and Aust. Day weekend to Orbost and Walwa.

 

Ian spoke of the concern that had been raised regarding our annual hillclimb. Although in general it’s run as a fun day, there could be a problem in the event of a crash. Committee to discuss and make a recommendation as to its future.

 

The Motorcycle Expo is being held at the Royal Exhibition Building on September 12, 13, and 14.

 

The future of our Social Sip venue, the Whitehorse Inn, is still in doubt as the owner seeks to appeal the council objections to his “high rise development”

for the site.
