Route:

Yarra Glen, Old Healesville Road, Chum Creek, Toolangi, Healesville, Yarra Junction & Warburton for a break. Reefton, Cumberland Junction, Marysville for lunch and break-up.

The Ride:

When I arrived at Yarra Glen a large group of riders were already in attendance and eager to start. Geoff volunteered for rear- rider, as he had not ridden for some time due to his daughter’s wedding and overseas work commitments. It was interesting to see amongst the "usual horde" of Japanese bikes a Triumph and not one  but two exotic MV's!

Dave gave the pre-ride talk and we headed to the ‘Old Healesville Road’ where the pace picked up a bit and we got a chance to hear the glorious howl from the four exhausts on Darryn's MV. We continued along to Healesville, then the run up Chum Creek road to Toolangi and back down Myers Creek road where I had the opportunity to 'briefly' observe the leader’s MV and marvel at the way the suspension was ironing out the rough sections of road!

We proceeded through Healesville and headed towards Woori Yallock and Launching Place, then along the Highway and sundry back roads to Warburton for our first stop.

As we planned on stopping at Marysville for lunch this would only be a short stop, so after a quick bite to eat Dave assembled the troops and reminded us of police presence in Warburton East and that we would stop for a regroup on the other side of the Reefton.

Once we reached the Spur it was "on" and only a matter of time before the "co-joined twins", Clint and Greg, muscled their way past, then not long after had a fright on rounding one corner to find a group of people milling around a downed rider. Fortunately NOT one of ours!

We stopped at Cumberland Junction for the obligatory regroup, animated talk and tyre inspecting before continuing onto Marysville. There were quite a few other bikes on this section of road but fortunately none too difficult to pass so we could really enjoy this fast downhill run into town. Lunch at the bakery.

As Dave starts work in the afternoon, he would break the ride up here. For those that wanted to accompany him through the Black Spur, he would be leaving shortly.

Lunch proved "interesting" with the Marysville seagulls (parrots) quickly laying claim to any sandwich or cake left unattended, even for just a few seconds!  After a leisurely lunch, Rhys and I rode back to Healesville then onto Cockatoo and home.

All in all a very enjoyable run with good roads, good company & good weather, thanks Dave.
