November 2004                             MSTCV Itinerary

Sunday 7th    Licola                                                                                                   Ron Johnston leading

                        9.30 am Yarra Glen

The route, according to Ron’s email will encompass: Yarra Glen, Healesville, Powelltown, Neerim, Warragul, Ellinbank, Yarragon to Moe for stop #1. (140 km by my reckoning). Then back roads to Yallourn North, Tyres, and Heyfield for stop #2. Then into Licola (54 km of twisty roads) and back out to get fuel at Tyers, stop #3. From Tyers we’ll head northwards to Rawson, Hill End, and Noojee for stop #4.  Break up at Yarra Junction. “It will be a long, hard day.”  This ride is not suitable for inexperienced riders. With big distances between stops, and an early start, this ride feels more like a Hotham 1000 ride. I would go so far as to suggest that if you are looking to go rear rider, this isn’t the ride for you.

Sunday 14th     Meredith BBQ lunch                                                                             Geoff Jones leading

                        10 am Whittlesea

From Whittlesea we’ll head out through Strath Creek and across to Broadford, making a bee line for Pyalong and Lancefield first stop. Continuing west we’ll pick up Carlesruhe before heading south into the cool country of Trentham, Blackwood and Bacchus Marsh before riding up the Bullengarook road to finish at Gisborne and the Jones’ residence for a leisurely BBQ lunch. No doubt Melissa and Andrew will be assisting and we thank them in advance. Expect around 250 km for the day.

Sunday 21st    Eildon via Torbreck River                                                           Peter Weyermayr leading

                        10 am Yarra Glen

Up and down Myers and Chum Creek roads, and then across the gloriously smooth Black Spur  to Marysville for morning tea at the 75 km mark and a splash of fuel for the thirstier bikes. Then up the highway to Buxton, Taggerty followed by the magic 37 km of Torbreck River Road twisties. We regroup at the bridge before retracing our steps to the highway and into Eildon for lunch, after a further125 km. Home via the spectacular Skyline Road, Alexandra, Molesworth, Yea to break-up at Kinglake West. Expect around 300 km for the day.

Sunday 28th     Hill End via Reefton Spur                                                                   Nigel Hellyer leading                            10 am Yarra Glen

Black Spur, Reefton Spur, Powelltown Road, Noojee to Willow Grove will supply enough twisty roads to get you through the week. Home either parallel to the Princes Highway or back through Neerim and Powelltown to finish at Yarra Junction. Expect around 350 hard km for the day.

December 2004

Thurs. 2nd       Social Sip, 7 pm Whitehorse Inn, 5 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn

Catch up with the gossip, collect your magazine and save the Club some postage. You never know who you might meet. Throw in some reasonably priced main meals, bargain monster desserts with coffee, a series of theme jokes from the members and you are in for an entertaining evening. We are shuffled out at 10 am, but groups linger outside for much longer. Give it a try. Take the car as there is plenty of parking.
