I secretly avoid Yarra Glen servos and so ran into Enzo at Diamond Creek fueling up. Enzo was on his recently returned, highly polished VFR. We rode through Christmas Hills together to be greeted with a wonderful turnout of bikes and riders at the Yarra Glen pickup point.

Ben ran us through the day’s planned events and Enzo volunteered for rear rider duties.

Paul has already been honing, I mean, riding around on this perfect morning, making sure to be satisfied and in position by race start. He leaves us at Healesville along with wounded Dave Moore limping along, both heading for the big screen and BBQ at Darryn Webster’s abode.

We continue on the Koo-Wee-Rup road to Launching Place and Yarra Junction and then tootle through Gladesdale.  Fresh road works into Powelltown slows us, well me anyway. Finally into some good stuff.

Its Barbara’s first ride and it looks like Trevor is being a real gentleman, or he has spotted the invisible fine gravel on some of the corners.

A dramatically quick gear change down where I think Ian and Joel were corner marking for the right turn up through Nayook at the end of the sweepers. Then a very long cornermark with Dave Ward at Neerim Junction which gave me a chance to hear about the previous weekend away to Omeo. Then here comes Enzo showing our first time rider the way.

Most of us do the East Neerim loop, but Ian escorts Carlo with what seems to be a fuel problem straight through to Neerim South where we regroup for what I thought would be morning tea. I’m riding so slowly I was lucky to have enough time to visit the loo. Then we’re off. Don’t want to miss the start of the first race do we!?

Not to worry. Back at the Burwood Ranch Rob has thoughtfully pressed record.

Through to Jindivick where Ern pretty quickly has had enough of sitting behind me. We regroup where the Labertouche road meets the freeway.  Then back to Kirsten and Rob’s home which they have kindly opened  up for us to watch the World Superbike Races at Phillip Island televised live on cable TV.

A pleasant arvo although I didn’t stay long. Les has ridden his DRZ from Heathcote and Ron arrives all polished up, after work around his house.

A great day. Special thanks to Kirsten and Rob.
