I’d been looking forward to this ride for some time. The roads leading up to Thompson Dam have  sections of glorious, open, clean sweepers.

We had three first time riders on this ride: Greg on a VFR800, Scott and Ali on the Hayabusa and Kern on the CBR600. Kern particularly enjoyed the sprit of the club and I hope to see him on a ride again soon.

At Thompson Dam I offered to swapped bikes with Breht which he declined. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it wasn’t long after that the he went for an off road excursion.

This didn’t put me off lending out my bike though and I swapped gixxers with Chris in Moe through to Powelltown. We stopped briefly at the end of Icy Creek Road when Chris said to me with a grin “I’m not giving it back”.

The ride officially ended in Powelltown but Paul, Kern and I continued on together until just out of Ringwood.

I’ve ordered a gear Ventura rack for my bike so I won’t have to sponge a visor swipe off other club members in the future.

Below is some information Ben sent me to jog my memory about the ride.

Leg 1: Berwick, Longwarry, Jindivick, Crossover, Old Sale Rd, Moe

Leg 2: Moe, Yallourn North, Tyers, Walhalla, Rawson, Thompson Dam

Crash: 3 km north of Rawson turnoff on return trip. Breht grazed his arm (10 cm x 4cm), not too deeply, other bruising to come out in next few days.

Leg 3: Thompson Dam, Moe

Leg 4: Moe, Hill End, Noojee, Powelltown

Ben and Breht returned to Healesville to collect trailer and return to collect bike (170 km ea way), back to Healesville by 10.30 pm

Some issue with Mr Plod waiting at crash site (much mobile conversations during afternoon). Length of skid will be analysed to determine if Breht should be charged. At this stage all looks well.
