“Heaps of traffic” was the warning from a ‘very reliable source’ (the lady in the milkbar at Yarra Glen). One lane of the Black Spur was closed. There was no shortage of officialdom wondering around town. I found out that there was a land slide last week and traffic lights have been set up to manage the traffic.

I had prepared myself to lead this ride, Dave Ward’s work interfering with him leading. But Tony said he was being given `the guilts’ about leading rides on the next itinerary by Ben so today was a good day for him to lead. Thanks. That took the pressure off me. (I wouldn’t have been out front for much of the ride anyway.) And we’ll put Joel down for rear rider, just for the hell of it. So all my kilometre counting last night was for nothing.

We decided on a quick, direct assault straight over both the Spurs and back. Unfortunately, I had call of nature at Marysville so the others stopped and waited for me. Can you believe the Spurs are dry? Suffer. But there was a bit of bark litter and the gravel at the Warby end, is still there, and just as bad.

A quick unzip at the bridge before we return. Enzo appeared at the Marysville Bakery enjoying the perfect riding conditions, not realising there was an organised Club ride. A quick goodbye here. Eventually, I wave goodbye to Enzo heading off up Chum Creek road for more fun.

Thanks fellas.
