MSR Itinerary            September 2007

 

Saturday 8th  Yea Pillion Ride                                                                                     Dave Ward leading

10 am Yarra Glen

The plan is to ride across to Healesville, up Chum Creek Road to Toolangi then down Mt Slide to Glenburn and across to Flowerdale, Strath Creek and around to Yea for lunch at the pub.  Make your way back to Melbourne either via Yarra Glen directly or via Kinglake West. Expect around 180 km for the day. This ride is design to be short, relaxed and of a sight seeing nature.  Take it easy!

 

Sunday 9th      Lavers Hill via Great Ocean Road                                                  Clifford Peters leading

Note early leave time. Across the bridge will see us leave the freeway at Little River working our way south through Lara and down to Moriac for morning tea and a splash of fuel. Next stop Lavers Hill for lunch at 1 pm via Deans Marsh, Lorne and Apollo Bay.  Brilliant roads and scenery. Back across the Otways to Apollo Bay and up Skenes Creek Road to Forest and eventually Deans Marsh and Moriac. Final break-up at Lara close to the freeway. Expect close to 500 km for the day. Ride will not suit inexperienced riders.  Good tyres essential.  This ride is dying out so enjoy it while we still can.

 

Sunday 16th    Strathbogie Ranges                                                                               Geoff Jones leading

                        10 am Whittlesea

From Kinglake we’ll head the well worn route to Flowerdale, Strath Creek and up to Highlands proceeding on interesting roads to Caveat and Gobur before regrouping at Yarck for fuel (R1s) and food. After morning tea we’ll retrace our steps to Gobur rejoining the highway and heading for Merton  before disappearing into the bush picking up Strathbogie and Violet Town on our way to Euroa for lunch at the usual BP servo. Last hop will be back to Merton, down to Alexandra, across the Molesworth Road and Yea to break up at Kinglake West. Expect around 350 km for the day. Tyre wear will be extreme.

 

Sat. 22nd          Novice/Casual Ride                                                                      Breht Emmerson leading

                        10 am Yarra Glen

Emphasis on slow, legal, low stress, suitable for learner riders or guys getting back into riding after a long break without the stress of keeping up, long distances.  A social ride with riding secondary but enough to whet the appetite for more on Sunday. The route will include Chum and Myers Creek Roads to Healesville, Black Spur to Marysville, first stop, then on to Yea via Alexandra and Molesworth for fuel. Break up at Kinglake West after 180 km of easy paced riding.  Enjoy the view!

 

Sunday 23rd    Hill End                                                                                                Ben Warden leading

                        10 am Yarra Glen

Healesville, Powelltown, the Neerims, Brandy Creek and into Drouin for morning tea after 110 km. Then we’ll loop south towards Loch and back up the Warragul Road to Trafalgar for lunch. Last hop head north to Hill End and back to Yarra Junction via Noojee and Powelltown. Expect around 330 km for the day.

 

Sunday 30th    Eildon via Torbreck River                                                               Tony Raditsis leading

                        10 am Yarra Glen

Across to Healesville, up Chum, down Myers, across the Black Spur and into Marysville for early morning tea and fuel for the guzzlers. This will set us up for the next hop to Buxton, Taggerty, the Torbreck River Road (34 km of twisty road, stop, turn around and do it again in reverse), and back into Eildon for lunch.  After lunch we may find ourselves investigating the drowned homestead or Anderson’s Point before heading to Alexandra and Yea to break up in Kinglake West. Expect around 320 of twisty roads for the day.  Not recommended for inexperienced riders due to the difficult roads.

 

Thurs. 4th       Social Sip – 7 pm Mark’s Place, corner of Grattan and Swanston Sts Carlton

Collect your magazine, share a meal, catch up with the guys and all the gossip, discuss Club directions.

Something different!  Over the Bolte Bridge and up the Tullamarine Freeway to Bulla before picking up Wild Dog Road and continuing north to Clarkefield and across Mt Macedon to Woodend for morning tea. A number of options here but throw in Spring Hill, Pyalong, Strath Creek and you get the picture.
