Michelin Recalls 68,000 tyres. (AMCN; Vol 56 No 25)

Michelin has launched a recall on front Pilot Power and Pilot Power 2CT motorcycle tyres. The recall, announced in Australia on 20th June, affects 120/70ZR17 front tyres and ONLY applies to tyres made in France. According to Michelin Australia, the tyres are experiencing deformations due to manufacturing irregularity, which can result in sections of the tread separating from the carcass at speeds above 250km/h.

The tyres can be identified by these markings on the sidewall: DOT 6UCW 980T or DOT 6UCW 979T, and “Made in France” stamped into the sidewall. Michelin Australia will replace all tyres meeting these parameters, and is urging customers to return the tyres to the retail outlet where they were purchased, or contact the Michelin distributor in their state.
