MSR Itinerary                      February  2008

Sunday 10th    Trafalgar                                                                                                Nic Jacka  leading

10 am Yarra Glen

Nic tried to lead this ride in winter but no-one came! Something about it raining hard.  The plan is to pick up as many good roads as possible in as short as time as possible! The route includes Chum and Myers Creek Roads to Healesville, Powelltown to Noojee (100 km and first break, no fuel). Then on to Hill End and Trafalgar (fuel at 150 km mark) and down to Mirboo North for late lunch in the bakery at the 200 km mark. After lunch we head for Hallston, Arawata (3 km of dirt) and up towards Warragul on more scenic and twisty roads to regroup at Drouin.  Final leg back to Packenham. Expect around 320 km for the day.

Sat. 16th          Greendale Pub (short ride)                                              Jacinta Thomas leading leading

                        10 am Whittlesea

Emphasis on slow, legal, low stress, suitable for learner riders, pillion passengers and/or guys getting back into riding after a break without the stress of keeping up or long distances. A social ride with riding the secondary aim but enough to whet the appetite for more on a Sunday. This is Jacinta’s first lead so come and support her. And put your partner on the back!  Expect around 180 km for the day.

Sunday 17th    Seymour                                                                                             Trevor Harris leading

                        10 am Yarra Glen

A ride in three parts. From Yarra Glen we’ll head to Healesville and up Chum Creek Road to Toolangi, on to Glenburn and Strath Creek to Broadford for morning tea and fuel for those with limited range. Next it is off to Pyalong, Emu Flat, the Burke and Wills Track, back up and across to Pyalong, Glenoura and into Seymour for a well-earned lunch and fuel. The final leg takes us into the Highlands area, then down to Yea, over Junction Hill and on to Kinglake West where we will break up. Around 360km for the day

Sat. 23rd          Three Mountains Ride Weekend Ride                                        Darryn Webster leading

                        9.30 am Yarck

The three mountains are Mt Buller, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek with a stay overnight at Dinner Plain. A deposit of $45 is required to be paid into the Club bank account (BSB 803-143, account number 12764, Name: MSTCV) no later than Friday 15th February to ensure a bed. There are route options with a more direct route: Myrtleford to Harrietville, rather than Myrtleford, Happy Valley, Tawonga Gap, Harrietville shaving off 70 km of twisties. All meet again at Harrietville for final run up Hotham. This option allows for the less bike-fit riders or extreme weather conditions to be taken into account. Good tyres essential as we expect in the vicinity of 1000 km for the weekend. For more info call Darryn on 0408-402-588.

Sun 24th          Jeeralang North (Gippsland)                                                          Ben Warden  leading                        10 am Berwick

Not able to commit to a full weekend fang? The next best thing is a Sunday lost in the depths of Gippsland.  Mow the lawn, do the gardening, fix the tap and clean the bike on Saturday, accumulating enough brownie points to escape on Sunday. Usual good roads, somewhere different. Expect around 400 km for the day depending on the weather and participants.  Good tyres a big help.  Be there.

March 2008

We’ll make a short loop around through Labertouche, the Neerims and maybe Mt Baw Baw, depending on the crew and weather conditions. Expect around 200 km for the day followed by a couple of hours watching great racing.
