Reefton and Black Spurs  MK II         Sunday 4th May, 2008

A sweet Lou Reed song drifts into my mind on a ride like today as I feel the crisp, fresh autumn air, warming sunshine, the mesmerisingly beautiful winding roads – Chum Creek and the dangerously daring Reefton and Black Spurs. The atmosphere was breathing mist into our ascending path and warming rays on our descent. Evergreen trees provided the backdrop for the stunning leafy colours of ochre, burnt sienna, deep vermillion and rusty browns – so visually exquisite. And the great company of friends all united in experiencing the thrill of the ride in this delightful season. “It’s such a perfect day… I’m glad I spent it with you…” Lou Reed, Perfect Day, Transformer, 1972.
