MSR   Itinerary                      November 2008

Sunday 9th      Licola                                                                                                  Ron Johnston leading

                        10 am Berwick

With the Bandit back on the road, Ronny can now lead a few more rides. Today we’ll head across to Tyers for morning tea via Jindivick and Yallourn North. If you fill here you will be able to get back on the one tank.  Next is about 18 km of careful highway riding before turning left at Toongabbie following the road around to Cowwarr. Left again and follow your nose all the way to the T junction at the remarkably full Glenmaggie Weir. Over the trestle bridge and the start of 45 km of brilliant twisty road to Licola. Lyn Duncan says they have made the road for the next 15 km past Licola, a better alternative road to explore compared to riding out to Wellington River and back until they complete the roadworks. Licola for lunch, then back to Melbourne. Around 390 km for the day breaking up at Longwarry North.

Sat. 15th          Archies Creek Pub Lunch                                                                   Dave Ward leading

                        10 am Berwick

Hard to describe this ride as anything other than a typical Sunday ride given the distance and style of roads to the destination.  Too far for learners, not a comfortable distance for pillions and P platers. First stop Loch via Drouin.  Then a loop around through Anderson, Almurta, and Woolamai to finish at the renowned Archies Creek Pub for lunch. Then across to Korumburra and back to Warragul and Drouin. Suspect some will head home via Powelltown and others take the highway. Expect around 320 km.

Sunday 16th    Highlands                                                                                             Ben Warden leading

10 am West Gate Shell Servo

Some careful thought on how to keep the stops to around 100 km was required in planning this ride.  First stop Woodend for morning tea at the bakery after first crossing Mt Macedon.  After the break we’ll pick up Lancefield, Pyalong, Broadford and into Seymour for lunch. Then across to Highlands, Caveat and Alexandra for another refresh. On to the brilliant Molesworth Road to Yea, Murrindindi, and Toolangi to break up at Kinglake, top of the St Andrew’s Road. 100 or less between all stops. Expect around 360 km.

Sunday 23rd    Mt Buninyong Fire Tower                                                                  Geoff Jones leading

                        10 am Whittlesea

From Whittlesea we’ll pick up the Eden Park series of corners before making tracks towards Wallan and Romsey down the big dippers. Then on to Woodend (via Straws Lane) and Trentham for morning tea. After the break we’ll continue west to Daylesforf, Yendon and Buninyong Fire Tower for views across the plains. After lunch iots back to Mt Mercer and Meredith for a play in the Brisbane Ranges to finish in Werribee after around 350 km of great back roads. Be there.

Sunday 30th    Lavers Hill via Great Ocean Road                                                       Cliff Peters leading

10 am West Gate Shell Servo

Cliff will lead us on his favourite and well worn route towards the old farm at Portland on his new weapon of choice, the mighty ZX10. First stop Moriac for morning tea, then on to Apollo Bay (fuel for most) and Lavers Hill for lunch at the top shop.  Then back to Apollo Bay, left at Skenes Creek to Forrest, Deans Marsh and back to Moriac for fuel and a breather.  Take it easy on the straights and through the towns. Then back to Lara to break-up next to the highway.  This ride is not suitable for first time club riders. Not much change out of 500 km.
