Bianca and I got up early - way too early for Bianca’s taste -  to make our way to the starting point at Yarra Glen. We arrived at 9.30am to fill up and saw Geoff Shugg at the servo. I parked the bike at the usual spot and waited for the rest to arrive. Rode the ride one last time in my head. No worries! Let them come.

Geoff asked where we were going and then said he’ll be in Broadford for the bike show. John and Kate arrived a couple of minutes later asking where we were heading and that we might meet them at the first stop in Healesville. They had their own trip planned, and then took off. Next one to arrive was Jacinta. Looking at the amount of people who had turned up so far, she wondered whether it was worth doing a ride. Bianca and I, or mostly me, were going anyway, so she followed us along the Old Healesville Road to Healesville, up through Chum Creek, Toolangi and down Myers Creek Road back to Healesville.

We stopped at the Bakery where Kate and John had also just arrived. We all sat down for food, drinks and bike talk. Jacinta left us here (thanks for rear riding, great effort keeping the group together!) John and Kate were nominated as new rear riders from here and duly followed Bianca and I through the Black Spur until the turn off to Marysville, at which point they continued on.

All the responsibilities, leading the ride and being rear rider, were in now in my capable hands. We followed the road up to Alexandra to stop for fuel and then made our way towards the Flowerdale Hotel for lunch. The weather was simply perfect with hardly any traffic on the roads.

There were quite a few locals at the hotel, getting either their liquid supplies for the Easter weekend or just consuming it on the spot. After finishing the Parma we headed off towards Broadford, stopping at the bike show next to the racetrack, but at $25 to enter, we decided to make our way home via the Hume Highway.

Thanks to everyone for rear riding J
