And to think I nearly scored points for being rear rider as well as lead rider.  J  I’ve now beaten Dennis’ record for the least amount of people on a Club ride.  You have to laugh.  On the serious side, with only two bikes on the ride, there’s not terribly much to write about.  Julie enjoyed the ride, Ben said that I took him on a road that he hadn’t been on before, the winery was gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the wines weren’t too bad either.  I think the ride itself was noticeably leisurely for the lone bike following, but oh well.  Leading for the first time was different.  I haven’t decided yet whether or not I like it.  The upside for me was that I didn’t take a single wrong turn J

In case anyone’s interested, Launching Place, one of the places we rode through, got its name because logs of wood were launched down the river as a cheaper alternative to transporting them by road.

No incidents to speak of, although Ben pointed out my hanging and rusting chain during the break at Kyle and Sam’s downstairs cafe in Warburton.  How many times can someone keep saying “I told you not to get a cheap chain”?  Far out brussel sprout.  There was a sale on, everything was cheap!  Anyway, we don’t mention the word chain anymore.  I guess Ben felt sorry for me because he adjusted it for me the morning of the Great Ocean Road ride.

Still at the cafe, Kyle told us about the unmarked bike and 4WD from the vicinity we’d just come from but luckily didn’t encounter.

Thanks to Ben and Julie for rear riding and their company on the day.

…Having subsequently been instructed as to which specific chain to get (RK 530 GXW), I paid a visit to Metro Honda and got a great price, and Ben replaced it for me.  Love your work Ben, and Julie for the three bowls of soup and pizza!
