MSR  Itinerary                     November  2010

 

Sunday 7th      Gembrook                                                                                                   Leader required

10 am Whittlesea

The route will include Kinglake, St Andrews, Christmas Hills, Yarra Glen, Healesville, Don Road, Launching Place, and the Old Warburton Road to Warburton for a coffee break. After the break we'll head down to Packenham Upper via Hoddles Creek, Gembrook, Cockatoo and the Mt Dandenong Lookout. Then back to Healesville to finish at the Beechworth bakery. An easy 250 kms.

 

Saturday 13th  Pillion ride, Tahbilk Winery                                                  Dennis Lindemann leading

10am Whittlesea

This is an easy ride suitable for pillion passengers, first time riders, and P-platers. It might be a bit far for Learners. The ride is intended to be gentle and tolerable for our better halves. The route is Whittlesea, Flowerdale, Broadford - first stop after 70 km through the fire/flood ravaged countryside. Then Glenaroua, Seymour, Mitchellstown and Chateau Tahbilk for lunch. Keep your eye out for kangaroos. Home via a more direct route early afternoon. Tahbilk Winery offers a marvellous setting overlooking the river, with excellent, reasonably priced food. Note: a 1.5 km long, hard-packed dirt driveway meanders through the vineyard to the Chateau. Expect around 250km for the day. Sunday 14th    Mirboo East via the Grand Ridge Road                                             Cliff Peters leading 
10 am Berwick

Leg 1: Freeway to Nar Nar Goon exit. Then down to Longwarry, Drouin, Ranceby, Poowong, and Loch for morning tea. 110 km Leg 2: Loch, Glen Forbes, Archie's Creek, Kongwak, Bena, Arrawata (3km dirt), Fairbank, Wooreen, Hallston, Allambie South, and Mirboo North for lunch and fuel. 130 km  Leg 3: Mirboo North, Dumbalk North, Boolarra South, Mirboo East via the Grand Ridge Road to the end of the bitumen. Boolarra, Mirboo North, Thorpdale and Trafalgar. 102 km  Leg 4: Trafalgar, Old Sale Road, Crossover, Jindivick, Longwarry North servo. 85 km Expect around 427 km for the day.

 

Sunday 21st    Highlands via Lancefield                                                                Paul Southwell leading
10am Whittlesea

From Whittlesea we'll head up to Kinglake West, Flowerdale, Strath Creek, Broadford, Glenaroua and on to Pyalong and Lancefield for morning tea at the 115 km mark. After the break we'll head north up the Burke and Wills Track 23 km before turning right and heading across to Emu Flat and the back way to Pyalong. Great volcanic scenery with large bolders strewn around the paddocks. Then on to Seymour for lunch after 84 km to sample the burgers at the famous wayside stop. After lunch and fuel the route follows the twisty road up to Highlands, then back to Yea and down to Flowerdale and Kinglake West to finish after another great 98 km. Expect around 300 km for the day.

 

Sunday 28th    Noojee via Jindivick                                                                                      Ha Du leading 
10 am Yarra Glen

A leisurely ride through the eastern ranges. The route will pick up Myers and Chum Creek Roads to Healesville, then along the back roads including the 1 km of packed dirt (Don Road) to Warburton for morning tea. After the break, we'll head down through Hoddles Creek to Packenham Upper, Longwarry North, around to Jindivick and Neerim, and then up to Noojee for lunch. To finish, it's a short hop to Powelltown and Healesville to break up at the Beechworth Cafe. Expect around 280 km.
