| | January 2022Sunday 2nd JanuaryMirboo North via Grand Ridge Road
 leader required
 10am Officer South BP
Ride will not suit inexperienced riders; not recommended for first
time Club riders.
This ride suits sports bikes - it strings together the best roads
in
Central Gippsland. First stop Korumburra Bakery via Drouin if you miss
the start. (96km) Then across to Leongatha (smidge of highway) and the
start of endless twisty roads looking for the perfect sweeper, touching on the
Grand Ridge Road with spectacular views of rugged mountains and
glimpses of the sea. We'll visit Limonite and travel to the end of the Grand
Ridge Road bitumen before returning to Boolarra South and Mirboo North.

Main Street bakery for lunch pre-ceded by fuel at the top servo. (128km) Then we'll do a loop down to Hallston
and back to Mirboo North before pressing on to the famous Thorpdale corner
sequence and Trafalgar for fuel. (88km) The Hallston loop offers the chance
to skip 60km of twisties and have a breather for 35 minutes before
rejoining the main group. Or jump on the back of your partner's bike.

After Trafalgar we'll cross the Prince's Highway and head for Old Sale
Road and Neerim Junction to finish at Powelltown. (79km)
Expect around 391km for the day. Good tyres are essential.

The Australia Day holiday falls on Wednesday 26th of January. Given
the distances involved (550km average every day), a five
day weekend allows us to take full advantage of the great location.

The plan is to ride up on Saturday, ride around the Snowy
Mountains Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (Omeo) and return to Melbourne on
Wednesday. This means four nights accommodation. You'll need to take
annual leave for the Monday and Tuesday.
Typically temperatures are in the high 30's at this time of year, but
at this altitude the temperatures will be around 5 degrees cooler
making for ideal riding conditions.

A BBQ pack is being offered for the first night which includes sausages,
steaks snd green salads. This allows us to eat as early or late as
we wish on our own private back patio area.

All you need is your toothbrush, a change of clothes and near new
tyres. Street legal, race replica tyres will not last much more than
two days so regular road tyres are a more sensible option, unless you
are prepared to change them.

The route for Day 1 is via Orbost and Delegate on the Bonang Highway.
Brilliant roads for the whole weekend. Check out
the Club Magazine for February 2011-2019 in the Members area.

Shorter Day rides will be organised for Days 2 and 3. A rest day
is an option. Home will be via the way we came - great roads and relatively
"safe".

This ride will not suit inexperienced riders; it is for Members only.
17 bikes, 17 people, 2936km, 12-35 deg.

 Ben Warden leading

South BP
Ride will not suit inexperienced riders.
***Note: Members Only - unless pre-approved by the Committee***

The Committee has booked the spectacular
"Snowy Mountains
Holidays"
B&B accommodation package on the Murray River at Towong, 11 km out of
Corryong.

Typically we make a five day weekend out of the Tuesday public
holiday to take advantage of the great location and the time and
distance required to get there. The plan is to ride up Saturday,
ride around the mountains Sunday and Monday and ride to Omeo on
Tuesday. This means four night's accommodation. You'll need to take
annual leave for the Monday and Wednesday.

The first night's meal is a BBQ (steaks,
sausages, salad, potatoes, sauces, ratatouille, garlic bread). Great
value.
  Accommodation: Please visit:
www.snowymountainholidays.com.au/accommodation.html
