The Australia Day holiday falls on Thursday 26th of January. Given the distances involved (550km average every day), a five day weekend allows us to take full advantage of the great location.

The plan is to ride up on Thursday, ride around the Snowy Mountains Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Omeo) and return to Melbourne on Monday. This means four nights accommodation. You'll need to take annual leave for the Friday and Monday.

Typically temperatures are in the high 30's at this time of year, but at this altitude the temperatures will be around 5 degrees cooler making for ideal riding conditions.

All you need is your toothbrush, a change of clothes and near new tyres. Street legal, race replica tyres will not last much more than two days so regular road tyres are a more sensible option, unless you are prepared to change them.

The route for Day 1 is via Orbost and Delegate on the Bonang Highway. Brilliant roads for the whole weekend. Check out the Club Magazine for February 2011-2019 in the Members area.

Shorter Day rides will be organised for Days 2 and 3. A rest day is an option. Home will be via the way we came - great roads and relatively 'safe'.

This ride will not suit inexperienced riders; it is for Members only.
Day 1: 15 bikes, 15 people, 637km to Jindabyne, 25 degrees
Day 2: 13 bikes, 13 people, 650km Tumut/Adjungbilly and return, 35 degrees
Day 3: 7 bikes, 7 people, 37 degrees, 598km Eden and back
Day 4: 8 bikes, 8 people, 26 degrees fog and drizzle, 482km to Omeo
Day 5: 2 bikes, 2 people, 26 degrees, early fog and drizzle, 576km
